Congratulations to our U15 Girls 2011 West Pines Classic Champions
Two Championships in Two Weeks !!!
The Lee County Strikers U15 Girls green team captured its second Championship in as little as 2 weeks. After winning the Naples Shark Shootout the Strikers went into the West Pines Kickoff Classic Tournament looking like the favorites to win and would face the unknown teams of Weston F.C., Jupiter, WPU Gold, and Weston F.C. Nike. The team has recently really started to gel and figure things out, they would not disappoint!
The girls were 3-0-0 and won their “Classic Bracket” and advanced to the Championship Game, winning that match 3-0 over Weston FC Nike and being crowned once again as CHAMPIONS. The Girls were relentless on the weekend and left every team trying to figure out how to stop them. The hot offensive team was able to put up 20 goals in 4 games and an awesome defensive backfield was able to contain the opposing attackers to only 1 goal on the weekend including 3 shutouts.
Forward Julie Conidaris led the way getting great opportunities from her teammates and was able to find the back of the net with two separate games with a “Hat Trick” and a couple single game goals tallying in all about 8 goals on the weekend! Great work!
Randi Lukas and Taylor Wipf led the back line and protecting their keeper on the weekend, another job well done by all the defenders.
The midfield lead by Rebecca Abernethy and Neily Yandle where able to keep the team in the offensive 3rd of the field for the entire 4 matches, Hard work wind games, well done!
Coach Lukas stated “This should not be a surprise to anyone, we have a very talented team and continue to get better and better every year! This is such and enjoyable team to be coaching. Everybody always thanks me, but it’s the girls we need to thank for having the passion to learn and compete like professional young women”
